The spin-off project "BianoScience" develops cell specific “Intelligent” siRNA molecules using a new mechanism of peptid-inhibited siRNA that is specifically activated in target cells. The name "BianoScience" is derived from three words: 1. Bio, 2. Nano (our business areas) and 3. Piano, meaning "muted" in Italien and symbolizing our core competence: the silencing of genes.

In 2011 the company "BianoScience" will be founded aiming to provide the technology for in vitro or in vivo applications for the basic research market. Therefore we are developing customized kits to add the cell specificity to conventional siRNA for basic research applications.

As a "Go-Bio"-financed research project integrated in the Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena, our main activity is the development of “Intelligent siRNA” for therapeutic applications starting with breast cancer. The spin-off is integrated in  the Institute of Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry and the Center for Soft Matter at the Friedrich-Schiller-University of Jena, Germany.
